かどうか (ka dou ka)

Meaning: whether or not

How to use the:
Verb-casual + かどうか
Noun + かどうか
いadj + かどうか
なadj + かどうか

Explanation: When we want to insert a question without using the word in the sentence, we use this sentence pattern.

Example sentences:
1, あの人が来るかどうか知っていますか？
Ano hito ga kuru ka dou ka shitte imasu ka?
Did he come or not come you know?

2, 私はこのことを人に語るべきかどうか迷った。
watashi wa kono koto o hito ni kataru beki ka dou ka mayotta.
I wondered whether I should tell anyone this.

3, そのが本物のパスポートかどうかはあやしい。
Sono ga honmono no pasupōto ka dou ka wa ayashī.
The passport book is real or fake is a suspicious thing

4, その映画は面白いかどうかは見てみなければ分からない。
Sono eiga wa omoshiroi ka dou ka wa mite minakereba wakaranai.
Must check to see if the movie is good or not?

5, うまくいくかどうかは、わかりませんでした。
umaku iku ka dou ka wa, wakarimasen deshita.
I didn’t know whether it was going to work.

6, このようなアドバイが適切かどうか分かりませんか？
Kono yōna adobai ga tekisetsu ka dou ka wakarimasen ka?
Not sure if such an advisable is appropriate?

7, 話していいものかどうか、迷っているのです。
hanashite ii mono ka dou ka, mayotte iru no desu.
I don’t really know whether I ought to say it or not.
