Meaning: because; now that

How to use the: Verb-casual + 以上（は）

Explain:
For nouns and adjectives な used 「名 – で あ る」 「な 形 – で あ る」

Example sentences:
1, それを知った以上、わたしのすべきことは二つあった。
sore o shitta ijou, watashi no subeki koto wa futatsu atta.
After discovering that, I should have done two things.

2, 絶対にできると言ってしまった以上，どんな失敗も許されない
Zettai ni dekiru to itte shimatta ijou, don’na shippai mo yurusarenai
Once determined to do it, no matter what the reason is not failed

3, やらなくてはならない以上、ひとつ愉快にやろうではないか。
yaranakute wa naranai ijou, hitotsu yukai ni yarou dewa nai ka.
Since you have to do it, why not have a good time doing it?

4, 試験の点は想像以上に悪かった。
Shiken no ten wa sōzō ijou ni warukatta.
The test point was worse than expected.

5, 試験を受ける以上、何とかして合格したい。
shiken o ukeru ijou, nantoka shite goukaku shitai.
Now that I’m taking the test, I want to pass it in one way or another.

6, その薬は期待以上の効果をもたらした。
Sono kusuri wa kitai ijou no kōka o motarashita.
The drug was more effective than expected.
