Changes to JLPT Certificate from December 2025
1. Summary of JLPT and CEFR
• From the December 2025 JLPT, JLPT test results will include CEFR levels.
• Only passing candidates will have their CEFR levels displayed.
• If the total score is at the passing level but some test sections do not meet the standard → CEFR will not be displayed, replaced by “*”.
2. JLPT → CEFR score reference table
• N5: 80 points or more → A1
• N4: 90 points or more → A2
• N3: 95–103 points → A2, 104 points or more → B1
• N2: 90–111 points → B1, 112 points or more → B2
• N1: 100–141 points → B2, 142 points or more → C1

Note
The JLPT only measures the following skills: language knowledge, reading, and listening.
It does not measure speaking and writing skills.
