ずじまい (zu jimai)

Meaning: never; did not (have the chance to); Haven’t done A (regrettable action/state)

How to use the: Verb-ないform (-ない) + ずじまい

Explain:
Express feelings of regret, regret, disappointment.

Example sentences:
1, 夏休みの前にたくさん本を借りたが、結局読まずじまいで、先生にしかられた。
Natsuyasumi no mae ni takusan hon o karitaga, kekkyoku yomazu jimaide, sensei ni shikara reta.
I borrowed a lot of books before the summer vacation, but after all I couldn’t read them, should have been scolded by the teacher.

2, 好きな彼女に告白できずじまいで卒業してしまった。
suki na kanojo ni kokuhaku dekizu jimai de sotsugyou shite shimatta.

Attention:
In addition, ~ じ ま い còn can be combined with some noun and adjective root. This is the suffix suffix meaning “end”.
