ついでに (tsuideni)

Meaning: while you are at it, on the occasion

How to use the:
Verb-casual + ついでに
Noun + のついでに

Describing the situation when doing something, it would be convenient to do it together

Example sentences:
1, 図書館へ本を借りに行った。ついでに、近くに住んでいる友達のところへ行ってみた。
Toshokan e hon o kari ni itta. Tsuideni, chikaku ni sunde iru tomodachi no tokoro e itte mita.
I went to the library to borrow books. By the way try stopping by the friend’s place nearby.

2, 仕事で京都に行ったついでに、高校時代の友人に会ってきた。
shigoto de kyouto ni itta tsuideni, koukou jidai no yuujin ni atte kita.
I met my high school classmate when I went to Kyoto to work.

3, 洗濯機を直すついでに、ドアの取っ手も直してもらった。
Sentakuki o naosu tsuideni, doa no totte mo naoshite moratta.
By the way, fix the washing machine I asked to fix the door handle

4, 母は駅まで客を送っていたついでに、買い物をしてきた。
haha wa eki made kyaku o okutteita tsuideni, kaimono o shite kita.
My mom went shopping after she saw her guest off to the station.

5, 兄は出張のついでだといって、私の仕事場へ会いに来た。
Ani wa shutchō no tsuideda to itte, watashi no shigotoba e ai ni kita.
My brother came to see me at work, saying he was on a business trip by the way.
