Explain:
Often used with opposite results to what was expected, thought so but unexpectedly.
Example sentences:
1, 今年の夏は猛暑が続くと思いきや、連日の雨で冷害の心配さえでてきた。
Kotoshi no natsu wa mōsho ga tsudzuku to omoikiya, renjitsu no ame de reigai no shinpai sae dete kita.
Think of summer this year as hot, prolonged days, where rain continuously for many days, to the point of worrying about losing crops due to the cold
2, テレビが直ったと思いきや、またすぐに壊れてしまった。
