ただ~のみ (tada~nomi)

Meaning: can do nothing but; there’s only

How to use the:
ただ + casual, non-past + のみ
ただ + Noun + のみ

Explain:
Used in the case of the expression that there is only one property / action, to emphasize the uniqueness.

Example sentences:
1, 心配したのはただ、そのことのみです。
Shinpai shita no wa tada, sono koto nomidesu.
I was only worried about that.

2, 部下はただ命令に従うのみだ。
Buka wa tada meirei ni shitagau nomida.
The subordinates only follow orders.

3, 事故はあまりにも突然で、わたしは何もできず、ただ呆然とするのみだった。
jiko wa amari nimo totsuzen de, watashi wa nani mo dekizu, tada bouzen to suru nomi datta.
It all happened so fast that there was nothing I could do but feel dumbstruck.

4, 外はただ一面の雪でのみだ。
Soto wa tada ichimen no yuki de nomida.
At that time, it was just snow outside

5, こうなったら、ただ一生懸命やるのみだ。
kou nattara, tada isshoukenmei yaru nomi da.
Now that it’s come to this, I must do my best.
