[に] is used when a noun has an accompanying number and is not used in the absence of the accompanying number. However, in the case of a week, you may or may not use [に]

日曜日「に」日本へ行きます。
Nichiyōbi `ni’ Nihon e ikimasu.
I will go to Japan on Sunday.

When the verb is in motion, the particle [へ] is used after the noun indicating the direction or place.
