間に (aida ni)

Meaning: while, during~ something happened

Explain:
Describe how long a state or action took place
Behind the word this will is a sentence expressing an action or thing is carried out at a certain time during the above period.

Example sentences:
1, 留守の間に友達が訪問しました。
Rusu no aida ni tomodachi ga hōmon shimashita.
While I was away, my friend came to visit

2, 9時から1０時までの間に一度電話を下さい
9-Ji kara 10-ji made no aida ni ichido denwa o kudasai
Please call me once between 9 and 10 o’clock

3, 家族がみんな寝ている間に家を出ることにした。
Kazoku ga min’na nete iru aida ni ie o deru koto ni shita.
I decided to leave home while my whole family was asleep.

4, にほんにいるあいだに、にほんごがじょうずになりたいです。
nihon ni iru aida ni, nihongo ga jouzu ni naritai desu.
I want to get good at Japanese while I’m in Japan.
